Sundays and Wednesdays at the Children’s Ministry

Children’s Sunday School (9:15 am – 10:15 am each Sunday)

Each week, our children take a journey into Scripture. As we study through a book our goal is for them to  see the Bible in a way that will make them want to dig deep and build a foundation for life. Our curriculum is LifeWay Christian Resources: The Gospel Project. Kids uses object-based learning to help them explore the people, places, and objects of the Bible in historical context and compare them to modern–day life. Our goal is for kids to not just hear the Bible, but experience it!

In order to help build community with in our children’s department, we all begin together, and then split into small groups based on grade levels.  We have a unique hangout area for tweens (5th graders) and understand that as they grow towards their teen years, their needs and learning styles grow as well.

Children’s Worship: Power Up (10:50 am – 11:45 am each Sunday from August to May)

Our children’s worship is for Kindergarten – 3rd graders, and begins in the middle of the main worship service time.  We want families to begin worship time together.  Parenting on the pew, singing together, and experiencing corporate worship is an important part of building strong faith families. However, we also recognize that sometimes children learn better in environments where they feel free to wiggle and participate in hands on lessons.  This is why right before the sermon, children in the younger grades are invited to join volunteers on the third floor for an unique kid friendly worship time.  Our curriculum is designed to provoke discovery and invite kids into a new understanding of how to grow in relationship with Jesus.  High energy, games, technology, and object lessons help us reach kids right where they are and model for them how we can worship God as we discover more about His word.

Our curriculum is 252 Basics from Orange Resources.  Everything we teach in Plugged In is based on one of three basic, but powerful, truths modeled by Jesus in Luke 2:52.

I need to make the wise choice.

I can trust God no matter what.

I should treat others the way I want to be treated.

Children’s Choir (fall semester)

Children’s Choir is more than just singing. Children learn how to worship God through songs, choreography, drama and weekly Bible stories with lessons, games, activities, and memory verses. All their lessons will help prepare them for a Christmas program to be presented to family and friends on the first Sunday of December.

Wednesday Night ZIP Program (winter/spring semesters)

Every person is born with gifts, talents, and passions.  During our Wednesday night Zip time, we strive to have children in God’s word, learning music about God, and discovering their gifts, talents, and passions.  Each six weeks, children choose new tracks to develop new skills and learn about new gifts.  Some of the tracks we have offered in the past include Painting, Duct Tape Creations, Woodworking, Indoor Games, Knitting, Drama, and Praise Band.

B4: Battles, Balls, Bibles, and Boys Only (winter/spring semesters)

This is an unique Wednesday night class geared towards our 4th and 5th grade boys.  We recognize that the tween years are an important time in a boy’s life where he is often bombarded with messages from the world about what makes a man a real man.  This class is designed to help boys develop into godly young men by always pointing them back to the scriptures.  We believe that if we can help our boys critically examine what they have been taught about what it means to be a man, explore the rich heritage of men in the Bible, and discover their identity in God, then they will enter their teenage years with confidence and a clear Biblical perspective.

Wild, Wacky Wednesdays (6:30 pm to 7:30 pm each Wednesday in the summer)

In the summer, we like to get a little wild and wacky on our Wednesdays!  Wednesday nights in June and July have fun themes including water night, messy night, and outdoor games.  Each theme and activity ties into a lesson centered around the gospel.
