Your transition team is united. As your Transition Team, we have come to a unanimous decision. This team started a journey last year and not one of us knew where it would lead, but we all trusted that with God at the helm it couldn’t go in a bad direction. It’s been a long journey to this point and it’s not over. We have a long way to go. This journey has been bathed in prayer, and we know that with God’s direction this church could be successful going more than one direction. We started this transition looking at the traditional method, but early on were introduced to another non-traditional method. Shortly after discussing this new idea, we brought it to you in a Town Hall. You affirmed to explore it further. After many months of prayer, deliberation, running ahead of God, being reined in and many months of prayer. We are recommending a merge with Brentwood Baptist Church. Next Sunday, August 13, we will pair up and visit Sunday school classes so you can hear pieces of our journey. This will be a time for us to share briefly because we value your time together as a class. There will be plenty of time in the coming months to get questions answered about the process. Our first Town Hall meeting next week August 13th at 3:00 pm.
While this is our recommendation to our church family, there are many steps in this lengthy process before both congregations will be asked to consider if merger is God’s will for both of us. The first of these steps comes this Sunday, August 13th at 3:00 pm in our sanctuary. Further down the road, there will be opportunities to hear from the heart of the leaders at Brentwood Baptist as well as times that are just for us to pray and talk and seek God’s face for our future. Please take this journey with us–seeking only what God desires for us for our future as His kingdom people.
Thank you for trusting us to serve to this point and beyond.
